The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to give 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.
“Last year, I had the chance to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are a critical part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they receive to make nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume assistance along with financial and job classes to help families get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so ecstatic that we had this food drive for Minnie’s Food Pantry, and they even took us around their incredible facility,” Wilson said.
